Hiking the Campuhan Ridge Walk

I love traveling solo because i get to be my true self. And that true self is going to bed at 9pm and waking up with the sun. I know a lot of people that like to party and stay up late when they travel. Personally, I prefer not to spend my limited days in a beautiful country hungover and sick. But to each their own.

If you happen to enjoy sunrises and pretty walks and you find yourself in Bali, make sure you spend one morning doing the the Campuhan Ridge walk.

Do the Campuhan Ridge Walk

The walk is a free and easy nature trek that passes over the lush valley of the Sungai Wos River.

The Campuhan Ridge walk offers a nice change in scenery — it is much more jungle and forest than the typical Ubud rice fields.

Getting to the trail is a little bit difficult if you don’t know where you’re going. The entrance to is actually part of the Warwick Ibah Villas and Spa. Turn into their driveway and follow the signs that say “Going to the Hill”. You’ll pass the Pura Gunung Lebah Temple, which looked absolutely beautiful but was under construction when I visited.

You could walk the entire 9km trail if you’re feeling ambitious, but most people turn around after about an hour when they reach the Karsa Kafe. You can grab a table in one of their stilted huts surrounded by gardens and ponds.

I chose to have breakfast and a juice in my own personal hut. I must have risen especially early that morning because it seemed like I was the first one eating there. The food was very average but the views were incredible and I stuck around for awhile. I would personally skip the breakfast at Karsa Kafe. Grab a juice if you’re feeling hangry and then stop at my favorite breakfast place in Ubud, Alchemy, on your way back into town.

I turned around after the Karsa Kafe and made my way back into Ubud. On the walk back, I passed many more tourists and some local teenagers having a little photo shoot in the tall grass. I went off trail a little bit, exploring the area and enjoying the cool morning air. This walk is best done in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the intense Bali sun beating down on you.

The Campuhan Ridge walk is the perfect way to start your day in Bali. Fresh air, beautiful scenery, and light exercise…what more could you ask for?

If you like it, give it a pin

Beautiful walk 🙂 And so close to Ubud, that it’s hard to belive you are only a 2-minute scooter ride away from all the hustle and bustle.
